Franchise owners

Accounting for franchise owners: one store, big decisions.

You run the store. We look after the numbers — tax, BAS, payroll, royalty reporting and a clear monthly view of where the profit actually goes.

In short

What does a franchise owner need from an accountant?

Most single-site franchise owners need four things: compliance that’s accurate and on time (BAS, payroll, super and tax), royalty and levy charges checked against sales, a monthly profit and loss they can actually read, and someone to call before a big decision — a refurbishment, a lease renewal, a price change or a second store.

The challenges we hear

Sound familiar?

Profit

“The store is busy, but where’s the money?”

Sales are up, the bank balance isn’t. We trace the gap through margin, labour, fees and cash timing.

Payroll

“Payroll keeps me up at night.”

Awards, rosters and now Payday Super. We set payroll up properly and keep it compliant.

Advice

“I only hear from my accountant at tax time.”

Monthly or quarterly check-ins on the numbers that matter, not just an annual return.

Cash

“The refit is due and I’m not sure we can afford it.”

A cash flow plan, finance options and the tax treatment of the spend — worked out early.

Owner FAQs

Questions from franchise owners

What reports should I look at each month?

A profit and loss compared with budget and last year, your cash position and short-term forecast, labour as a percentage of sales, gross margin and a royalty reconciliation. We’ll set these up and explain them.

Can you work with my existing bookkeeper?

Yes. We can review their work and focus on tax, reporting and advice.

Do I need to change accounting software?

Usually not. If your franchisor mandates a system we’ll work within it; otherwise we’ll suggest changes only where they save time or improve reporting.

Let’s make your numbers work harder.

Tell us where you’re at — first store, next store or a whole network — and we’ll start with the right conversation.
