Franchisors

Accounting support for franchisors and growing networks.

Royalty reporting processes, marketing fund statements, management reporting and network-level financial insight — so the system you’re building is sustainable for you and your franchisees.

In short

What accounting does a franchisor need?

Alongside standard accounting and tax, a franchisor needs reliable systems for invoicing and reconciling franchise fees and royalties, separate records for any marketing fund, the financial information required for the disclosure document, and management reporting that shows the economics of the network — including how franchisees are performing. If there’s a marketing fund, the Franchising Code requires an annual financial statement for franchisees, audited unless franchisees agree otherwise.

03

Disclosure financial information

Help preparing and checking the financial information that goes into the disclosure document, alongside your lawyer.

04

Network benchmarking

Franchisee results compiled into benchmarks you can use in field support and recruitment — with care about what you represent.

05

Management reporting

Monthly results for the franchisor entity, corporate stores and the network as a whole.

06

Structure and tax

Entity structure for the franchisor, IP, corporate stores and expansion, including GST on fees and international payments.

A note on earnings information

Network benchmarks and earnings information are powerful recruitment tools, but they carry legal obligations. The Franchising Code sets rules about earnings information in disclosure, and the Australian Consumer Law prohibits misleading representations. We can help compile and check the numbers; your franchise lawyer should advise on how they’re presented. See the ACCC’s disclosure guidance.

Franchisor FAQs

Questions from franchisors

Do marketing fund statements need to be audited?

Generally yes — the Franchising Code requires an auditor’s report on the annual marketing fund financial statement unless enough franchisees agree that it doesn’t need to be audited.

Can you look after our corporate stores too?

Yes. We can provide bookkeeping, payroll, reporting and tax for corporate stores, reported separately from the franchisor entity.

Do you offer audit services?

Audit requires independence from the client. If you need an audit we can help prepare for it and work with your auditor.
